And I can already hear the cry of those people who were screaming at the Squier Jaguars saying those were not true Jaguars, it had to have metal control plate and lots of controls and...

I don't see much reason to pick this over the MIJ Jags. Unless this was meant to be a bridge between the Squier and the MIJ. But unless you dig the P/J so much, the MIJ has way more to offer.

The Tele looks nice, but it's a "no go" for me unless it's modded. If Fender changed it up into something like what's pictured below, then it would have been an instant-buy for me. Unfortunately, they didn't...

Heck, they don't even have any blue LEDs. Everyone knows you need blue LEDs to be modern.

Consider myself a P man. But, I really like that Tele! Would love to hear it. I've got a killer MIM P. So, I really don't care where it was made. As long as it sounds good!

Yeah. I'd bet a suitcase full of money that they are modded, re-branded Sq's for the Euro market. Anybody here own one or work for Fender that can prove me wrong? If so, I'd like that Tele model.

While I'm still GASing for a Jag, I've been realising how much I like the PJ pickups on my current bass so I'd been looking at the Squier VMs. My first thought on this new model was "Yes! A proper Fender Jag with P-J pickups! My life is complete!". My second thought was "Oh, no shiny bits, which was the only thing that put me off about the Squier. So it doesn't offer anything much over the Squier and isn't as special as the CIJ".

The price point suggests MIM - it works out to £410, against £270 for the Squier and £765 for the CIJ. I don't think it's for me - I think the appeal would only be to those who love maple necks with blocks and couldn' stand the Squier name on the headstock.

If not available in the US, and you have to import it, then that's correct.

Otherwise, £1 or €1 is roughly equivalent to $1 on most basses (i.e. we pay a lot more in Europe for our Fenders!).

they day Fender actually starts making them as a series, I'm bying a Fender again. Not because I think this is what a Fender should be, but to encourage bringers of the new era.

Always wanted me a tele bass. Any clue what the American price on that would roughly be? Under $800 = Gas. Over $800 = 1 big fart.

That's like putting fuel injection, anti-lock brakes, and GPS in a Model T and calling it modern.

and with Fender, they wouldn't bother putting fuel injection instead of gravity flow on Model T, because "this is not what our customers want"

Anybody seen the Fender "pawnshop" version of the Squier '51? Took a great little guitar with cult status off the market so they could rebadge it and turn a bigger profit. The only thing "pawnshop" about that is, instead of someone sticking a Fender decal on a Squier and selling it out of a shady shop, Fender has eliminated the middleman.
