New Fender series: MODERN PLAYER

I like the looks of the Tele, but modern? No way. To be modern it would have to pick up the internet with a screen so you could scan Talkbass during long boring guitar solos. 
So Fender is making Squier copies now?
I laughed...but really, I kinda dig that Tele.
I like the looks of that tele bass, but this is not AT ALL what I envisioned as a "modern" Fender.

LOL so true, that Jag looks like a VM Jag, but without a matching headstock and stacked knobs. It's nice, but at least as far as features go I think I'll stick with my VM. Plus the VM has a tort guard, which I also prefer.
@ Surfer Joe, those sure are nice, especially the blue Jag.
I do hope those find their way over here. ESPECIALLY that tele! I don't give a s--- how "un-modern" they are, that tele is slick! As for the jag, they sure are nice looking, but idk, it just doesn't strike me the same way the tele does. Now, if that Jag had the pickup configuration of the blacktop jbass.......I'd probably be wiring money to my German friend for a serious favor, lol
Ughhh...I wish they would stop putting any pickups that arent soapbars (or anything not resembling the original Jag guitar pups or P-90 style pups) into those jaguar bodies...the split/single config just looks off and a little cheap to me. But I'm sure it has it's perks. Like sounding like a split/single configuration. Yay.

Actually, looking at these, they seem more like slightly modified Squiers for the Euro market branded with Fendy logo's. Bridges, veneers, pickups...

Fender views "modern" as supplying general updates that make an instrument more versatile for modern music. That tele bass with the second pickup added for instance. The other modern features are a flatter than vintage radius, larger frets and non-reverse tuners. Whenever Fender tries to make a fully modern looking bass it doesn't sell so they have turned to adding modern features to classic looking stuff.
