seems to me that the guy may have put together a bass similar to Steves configuration .. I say that because the finish on the neck and also the decal are different from the bass you see Steve play ..

But if it is the case, and this is a newer model, Im definitely getting into that!

That looks legit. No badass bridge, but the Fender High mass that is virtually identical, his new signature pickups...I'd imagine this is showing up at NAMM.

It was posted on the winter NAMM post.Its new for 2015. Don't know it this particular one is legit but the one posted there looks awesome.Just wonder if it weighs a ton like the other model.

Made in Mexico vs the blue one being Maiden Japan. Hope its still beastly heavy. Looks like the neck is slightly smaller. I still think I prefer the blue one.

Considering this new model is made with a maple body, it will definitely weigh more than the earlier blue model. The West Ham logo is larger than the one on Steve's actual bass but otherwise it looks pretty accurate.

I ordered mine yesterday, to be delivered end of March. I have also the blue one released in 2009. I hope the quality will be as good as the previous one made in Japan.

The maple body is the best improvement cause it's like Steve's bass. Curious if the pick-up signature will make a real difference.

From a UK market persepective, I think Fender have a real problem here. They need to recreate Steve's bass, but football teams are so tribal here there is no way that a Spurs, Arsenal or any other fan will play a bass with a West Ham crest on it. If they can find West Ham supporting, Iron Maiden loving, bass players with money to spare in the UK then they might shift them...

It is probably the case that the UK market is too small to worry Fender anyway, but the West Ham thing is a turn off.

I'm keeping my Blue Sparkle one on the basis that it is the one Steve played in his and Iron Maiden's prime (not least on the World Slavery Tour...)

It's a catch 22 situation; It's a replica of Steve Bass, so the crest must there, otherwise it not really it.

But I do understand your point cause I'm a football supporter too and not West Ham. But as Maiden fan I learn to live with West Ham stuff related to Maiden.

Are you sure? My blue one is pretty damn heavy.

The blue one has an alder body, and the new white one has a maple body. The white one will weigh more but I don't know by how much. My pre-order is in, and I can do a comparison when it arrives. Maple is a super heavy wood, which is why it is usually reserved for necks and tops. Not full bodies. But the fact of the matter is Steve's old number one bass was made of maple (during an odd period at Fender in the early 70s), and Fender is finally building the new signature model to correct specs.

Same, Maiden are my favourite band ever and Steve is the reason I started playing bass at all, but as a lifelong Liverpool supporter I not sure if I could deal with a WHam logo on my bass.

At least he doesn't support Man United, because then I'd be tempted to buy one, scrub the logo off, and paint it sparkle blue myself purely out of spite.

(context for US forumites: Liverpool supporters and Manchester United supporters... don't like each other very much.)
