Introducing "Low Tension Flexible Flats" for Bass! ​

La Bella Strings is taking a new approach to flat wound bass strings. The result is the Low Tension Flexible Flats series. Using the same techniques that have made the Deep Talkin' Bass strings the best-selling flat wounds on the market, La Bella has adjusted the construction to create a lighter and more flexible alternative to the classic heavier flats.
The Low Tension Flexible Flats deliver the same classic sound but without a floppy-string effect associated with other light tension flat wound strings. These hand-wound and hand-polished strings are equipped with round cores for flexibility and narrower ribbon wire to achieve that unrivaled smooth feeling uniquely characteristic to La Bella Strings.
La Bella's Low Tension Flexible Flats are now available in 4-String (LTF-4A) and 5-String (LTF-5A) models.

Here's the info on tensions:

G - 36.2 lbs.
D - 34.0 lbs.
A - 30.5 lbs.
E - 34.2 lbs.

The only thing that concerns me is the A string (70) at 30.5 lbs.; I'm wondering if that might be a bit too light for my taste. A 75 would have been preferable to even up better with the rest.

I had the exact same thought. Reading about them, they seem very similar to jazz flats. A comparison would be good at some point. I'd be hard pressed to swap the TIs on my fretless, but having another possible option never hurts.

And I don't get the B string added to these:

".118 = 28.3 Lbs"

Other scale lengths will follow. An authorized La Balla dealer can make arrangements for that. I know I will be carrying all available lengths.

As far as a Hofner Specific set, with the way these strings are constructed I am not sure if La Bella will be able to make them with the smaller diameter tuning post part, so I will check into that!
