New fuzz pedal from Aguilar

In general I'm not a big fan of silicon fuzzes - I'm a germanium guy through and through - but I'll give Aguilar the benefit of the doubt here, so add me to the list of those eager to hear what these sound like! I'm also interested to find out what sort of architecture/topology they decided to go with. The fact they mention silicon makes me wonder if it is a fuzzface variant, but that's nothing more than a wild guess.

Just because they mentioned silicon transistors doesn't really point towards a fuzz face IMO. It could be pretty much anything.

That's what I was thinking. A Big Muff with a blend control, not that there is anything wrong with that!

Do you say that just because of the similar color scheme between the two? It's been my experience that MXR and Aguilar pedals sound quite a bit different from one another.

it also has the same knobs. dry, wet, tone, and fuzz. i interested in checking out the aguilar, but most of the time, when mxr copies another pedal, they add a feature. markbass has an octave with two octave belows. the mxr bass octave is smaller and has a mid boost.

I admire these guys' persistence knowing that the pedal market is so saturated with new (and not so new products).
The bass pedal market is also very small compared with the guitar pedal market, so it is difficult to achieve any kind of volume.

So even though Fuzz Faces are sometimes made with silicon, the classic FF is germanium, so doubt it's a FF. Also, the Bass Fuzz Deluxe is a Tonebender, which I believe is also germanium, so I doubt it's cloning the BFD either. My guess is Big Muff, too. Of course, it's based on nothing except seeing 71 and silicon in the same sentence

Since Dave is watching my thread here, and I have no hope of getting to Namm from Australia...Are we likely to see any other products this year? Specifically in the TH family of amps?

If Aguilar makes it, I want it. It's pretty much that simple for me. Doesn't mean I can afford or have a place to put one of everything they make unfortunately.

I would love to have all of the Aguilar pedals on a small'ish pedalboard, if for no reason other than the form factor makes them look very slick when stacked together.

I have 4 of their pedals. Looking to add the Filter Twin soon. I'd like to see a reverb pedal in the future. And I'm always hopeful for a Tone Hammer v2 that has a separate level control on the AGS.

I'm still hoping for a boost/mild OD that includes the filter tone control that is found on the Octamizer. It would be such a sweet pedal.

I miss my Octamizer for that filter control alone. The Fairfield Barbershop has a very similar function, but it's not adjustable like the Octamizer. It's a 3 way switch with bypass, filter some, and filter a LOT. Might want to try one to see if the amount of highs it cuts works for you. It's of course a low gain overdrive as well.
