I for one never liked active bases and that is why both of my L2500s have the actives removed and the pickups wired for full coil tapping. But I'm a old school guy and it works for me. For vintage bass sounds I use my 1990 SB1. I also use LaBella black Nylon tape wound flats on all 5 of my basses and I might add that I have converted 4 other players to these strings. That being said I have never meet a G&L that I did not like USA or Tribby some just suite me better. I've been a G&L guy since 1985. Rock on Dudes!

I hear ya. I put a set of Roto Tru-bass tapes on an SB-1 just for kicks. When I plugged in I thought..."Wow Macca in a can!"

I think MFD's love all string types.

I'll just chime in as another interested player here. I love my JB-2, and it's completely stock (and beautiful). I prefer passive basses lately in general - and play most of my actives in passive mode, so I'll probably just be "interested" and stick with my JB-2. However, Templar's bass looks fantastic.
