New GK 800 Legacy!

Hi Hambone666,

I have owned a couple 1001RBs and currently own MB200, MB500 Fusion, 700RB, and Legacy 800.
The Legacy 800 is right there with all of them, it really doesn't flex it's superior muscle until you pair it with some serious cabbage.

Case in point through my two GK 112 cabs you would think the head can only perform at a certain level until you hook it to four 8 ohm cabs. The Legacy through 4 cabs is scary loud and powerful.

So I have developed an always on Overdrive Strategy. I'm running an LB-100 with a GZR pickup and cranking the signal on the amp. I keep the edge way down for a warm tubey ocerdrive and using my volume control for solo boosts. I'm usually running a compressor always on too.

What ohms are the drivers in the 2x10 cab?
I did figure out the load needs to be balanced.
I dont remember the issue but when I hooked up my two 112s and two 2x10s at the same time one way that did not work and one way that did that allowed me to get the 2 ohm load and matched to all the drivers.

The result was unbelievable.

You should wire your pickup direct to output jack and see if it gives you a little bit more gank.

That is one thing really nice about the Legacy, if you want any kind of overdrive sound you have it with that amp and it’s a great “always on”
Type of tone.

I have a compressor “always on” when use my board.
I’m addicted to this amp and I see another 1 or 2 more after NAMM.

Had an opportunity to try the Legacy 800 today through a GK Neo 212. It's my good friend @TonyP- 's stuff...he's a GK guy through and through. To be clear, I'm not. Other than the old 400RB and 800RB Amps, they all seem super bright to me unless you EQ the heck out of them. The Leg800 is even brighter than the other amps (this was with the tweeter off on the cab). I have no idea why anyone would make an amp sound like that with the EQ flat. WITH THAT SAID.....after some EQing, the amp was great. The low end boost switch does wonders for the sound (not sure why that isn't the default sound as with it off it was pretty thin sounding). I did have to EQ a lot for my preferred sound, but once it was there it sounded great. That is a seriously powerful little amp too. Oh, and the surprise for me was how fabulous the drive sounds. With low drive dialed in it sounds incredibly natural, like tubes breaking up, just without that tube compression. All in all, if you are a GK fan than this amp will make you extremely happy. It even impressed a non GK fan.

Now remember ;););)
You have a lot of “brightness” in your right hand, even more then me.

So end users it’s bright amp but to me not much.

This might be the most “live sounding” amp I have ever heard, I love it.

That I do (unfortunately!). Hard calluses and a heavy right hand. I still felt it was brighter than any other GK amp that I've played. But again, it does sound great, and the eq can give even a player like me the sound that I want with some EQ tweaking.
