New guy, new bass, a few questions.

I've messed around on the guitar off and on and decided I really liked the sound of a lot of the bass lines in the music I was trying to play. After a few teething problems and returns I have a combo I am pretty happy with. A Fender Blacktop Jazz Bass and a Rumble 200.
I love the look and sound of my bass but not the neck. I thought I could get used to the Jazz Neck but I just can't. From what I understand a P-bass neck should just bolt right on. I see that GC and MF both sale MIM replacement necks as well as mighty mite necks. I am leaning towards the Fender due to that being the most comfortable of all the necks I tried. I was also thinking of doing a reverse headstock just to be a little different. Are their any problems associated with that?
Future plans include a possible pick up upgrade and depending on maple or rosewood fretboard, a pick guard switch.
Another question regarding the pick up volume knobs. The are pretty much all or nothing what I mean is the last 10% of turning is where all the volume is. I would like to have more adjustment. So how do I fix that?. I thought of doing the front knob as a master volume and the rear as a fade between the two pick ups. I guess that's not much different than if I had full adjustment in both knobs though.
So just a few changes in mind. unfortunately my playing time is limited due to tennis elbow.

Wow, you are really hitting the mod menu fast, but I like your train of thought. I have to disqualify myself about the question of installing a reverse headstock neck, but there are a couple of recent, detailed discussions here on that topic. The MIM replacement neck is a great value in this case, and AFAIK the P neck will fit the Modern Player Jazz without any drama. If you are interested in soldering, and I highly recommend getting used to it if you haven't, choose some CTS pots that have a value that is appropriate to your pickup choice. 250k is a standard, but 500k may be a good choice for hot humbuckers. About the CTS pots.... make sure they're full-sized. The mini-pots all suffer from the same problems irregardless of manufacturer. Also, you can get loaded control plates for reasonable prices on e-bay (usually around 30-50 dollars US). Avoid those coming from China or Hong Kong, as they will likely have the exact same pots as your current bass. Then it'll be merely a thing to solder up your pickups in without having to deal with a tiny mess 'o wires.

For the neck, not sure reverse-headstock is really worth the trouble, since you basically have to get a left-handed neck and replace the nut with a right-handed one. Again, e-bay can be your friend. The Mighty-mite necks are fine, and are on par with at least in quality with the neck you currently have on your bass. Right handed p-bass necks will be much easier to come by, though. Some e-bay vendors do sell Squier and Fender P-bass necks, but I'd be a little wary.

They sell inexpensive, but good quality stuff. I've bought components from them before. They can custom cut your headstock for you. If you want a decal, hit me up, I could probably make you a replacement one.
