New Ibby SR405QM in the house...

Hi fellas,

Just picked up a 5 Stringer last night, and thought I would share some pics. It's an Ibanez SR405QM in Trans Black. Haggled with Sam Ash to get a really good deal, much better than I expected actually. The Low B will come in handy for sure...already starting to re-learn some of the songs our band does to use the Low B and it's working out great. :smug:

I also have the SR700 with Barts, and I have to say I like the pickups in it better than the CAP's in the 405. The Barts seem to have a great range and are more articulate than the CAP's, at least to my ear. Also, I get a little ground hum with the 405 that I do not have with the 700. :eyebrow:

Anyway, here are some pics.

Cheers fellas! :p

So im guessing the B on that 405 is pretty good? I have a 305 with EXF pickups and the B string is very weak...easily gets lost in the mix.
I'll know by this Thursday night...haven't had it in with the band yet. I can't wait to give it a good trial run in rehearsal. It's funny, I've had several instruments that sound great plunking around in the bedroom, and sound terrible in the band mix, and I had just the opposite as well. You never know until you are playing it in a band setting to see how you will like it I think... ;)

nice family there. the btb is gorgeous. ive got the 776 model the btb's are just incredible basses for the money. http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa345/jtapp2556/0624011930.jpg there's a photo of my btb
That is one stunning instrument JTapp, love that finish.

Hey Phadreus, what kind of strings are on your new 405QM? I just picked up mine in Transparent Grey Burst on the weekend and it said Elixir strings. In your pics these look similiar to the D'Addarios I had on my 305 before I traded it in.

How do you find the weight of this bass? I only have a low SR300 but the 405 seems maybe a touch lighter...

Cheers
