New Jackson JS series (check it out)

Upper horn looks short. I'm thinkin' neck dive. Yes? No?

Do the pickups follow the neck radius?

Bolt-on neck kills the deal for me.

For the money, though, I guess it's quite a bit of instrument.

I believe that's the camera angle. The ones I tried at Sweetwater seemed to be very balanced.

The pickups are just EMG clones and since the neck has a compound radius (more curve near the first few frets, nearly flat at the last few) I would say they are pretty close to following the neck radius. The body has a large cutaway at the heel so upper register reaching is no longer a hindrance. I use to prefer neck through, but after seeing a lot of high end luthiers switching back to bolt on designs, I'm beginning to see the advantages of it.

The bass balances just fine and the electronics are very vesitile , I have been playing it with the controls dimed and it has the typical J/C snarl but simply rolling the mids off it loses the snarl/growl and sounds very smooth. I just wish I had more time to exparament with it but with work and 5 kids I don't have hardly any time

i got the JS3V in plain black a couple weeks ago. i posted pics in the Jackson thread. as i said in that thread, its super light, the neck is really fast and comfortable, there is not really any dive that i've noticed. for that price, its the nicest 5 string bass i've ever played. i really love that thing, and can't say enough good things about it.
when i get the spare cash, im considering buying another in 4 string, maybe silver, or trans black.
a few days ago, i broke my hand, and wont be able to play it again for a few weeks, and its killing me. i cant wait to be able to play again.
anyway, amimbari i saw that on ebay a few days ago, and was gonna post about it. i really hope that price was a mistake, lol. he'll never sell it for that price.
