Anyone seen these yet? I stopped by Sweetwater today to watch a David Ellefson/Chris Broderick clinic and I happened to notice these babies sitting out for display. I didn't have time to plug 'em in, but I did jam on two of them acoustically. They felt really light, but solid, had a good acoustic tone, and very comfortable necks. After checking the price I think they just may be a hit. $350 for a bass with a double octave neck, active 3 band eq, and very comfortable ergonomics doesn't sound too bad to me.

These look really nice for the money. The neck is a bit wider than I like though.

Actually, the neck didn't look or feel to be quite as wide as it says. They say the nut width is near that of a p-bass (albeit a slim p bass) on their specs, yet both of the 4 string JS3's that I checked out felt much slimmer, much like a jazz bass. Either their specs are off, or the shape of the neck is very odd. I have pretty small hands and I found it to be very comfortable to play, especially with the "compound radius". I really wish I could have plugged one in.

By the way, the photo of the Transparent black does not do it any justice. It looked much different in person. The visibility of the wood grain was much more subtle and a much darker color. This pic is as close as I could find of what it really looked like.

Since the neck on my esp got damaged a couple weeks ago. I salvaged everything out of it, the pups, preamp, hardware. To possibly use on another bass if needed. Ive been seriously concidering getting one of the black js3's as replacement. Havent decided for sure yet. But of new basses, Jackson is attractive for sure. I like the headstock myself. Lol.

Hows the sound with the stock pups and preamp SOB H.R.MC? Is it more toward the crunchy and growly or more toward smooth? Good balance of lows and highs with minimal preamp tweaking? If nothing else I could swap one or both pups with the esp's and same for preamp if needed though. Lol.
