Hmm. I liked my REDDI but it was big and not board friendly. The Khan was nice as the XLR and 1/4” were affected - unlike the REDDI - but the location of the ins, outs and power we troubling for getting it to sit right on my board.
Now if I can power this with my DC7, and the in/out seem to work better, I may give it a try again to go after my Stomp. I was thinking maybe the new Mantle pre or a Genzler Magellan pedal, but maybe…

Been using the new Khan VTDI for a few days now, and so far I’m really impressed. It sounds every bit as good as the previous version, but with a few practical upgrades that make it much easier to live with on a board.
Compared to the older VTDI, the footprint is smaller, it’s lighter, and it fits perfectly on a Pedaltrain Nano+. The I/O jack layout is also much more pedalboard-friendly.
One of the biggest wins for me is that it runs from a 9V adapter instead of an IEC power cable. I can now power the entire board from my Cioks DC7, instead of needing a second IEC cable or a splitter just for the Khan.
And on top of all that, this version is $200 cheaper than the previous one. Altogether, I think Khan really hit a home run with the new VTDI.

It’ll be listed for sale on the Khan website soon, likely this coming week. He built the first small batch recently and had customers (myself included) he’d spoken to ahead of time who were on standby to buy one.

Somewhere around 500 mA. I don’t remember the exact number. One port from the Cioks DC7 powers it.
Is the Kahn DI more 'coloured' than the Jad Freer Luce? Although the Luce is excellent, I found it quite a 'hifi' tube sound, which wasn't what I was looking for.
I would say the Luce is way more
coloured than the Khan but I’m basing that on my comparison with the SVT Di.
So maybe @scubaduba has a bit more insight since he claims to have played a tube di like once or something.
I haven’t played the Luce, so someone else can make that comparison, but I can say the Khan isn’t “HiFi.” It’s more of a vintage Ampeg tube warmth, but with great clarity.
Luce and Khan are both colored. What Killens84 says above is how I hear the Khan too. A vintage Ampeg tube warmth (which makes sense considering its heritage) and offers excellent clarity. The Luce can be a bit less focused sounding. Not necessarily warmer, just looser. Each device has a different input impedance and that will have an affect based on whether you are playing a passive bass and or hot bass with preamp or other device. In other words, different instruments will sound different with each. I prefer the Luce with some instruments and the Khan with others. Overall, the clarity of the Khan probably wins for me.

Yeah, I’m torn. The Mantel is interesting for sure. Sonos their new compressor but I don’t want to dirty up the Khan thread.
I’ve had the new Khan for almost two weeks now, and I’ve gotten to use it on both a rock gig and a church service, both with IEMs. For me, it’s been outstanding.
Honestly, I can’t think of anything I wish were different. I loved my full-sized Khan, but there were definitely a few practical things I would have changed about it. This new model addressed everything I didn’t love about the previous version, and I couldn’t be happier with it.
