New Kramer

So I just got my very first Kramer bass and let me tell you it is a beautiful instrument, I still got some minors problem to fix but other than that it is just what I expected.
But the thing is I was wondering if I should put extra pickups on it (I was thinking a music man for the neck and a jazz for the bridge) and perhaps a kahler bridge.
What do you guys think? Should I do all of this or just leave it as it is.

If anything I would put two J s on it like the stu Hamm style. I don't think it will be easy to fit the mud bucket near the neck joint.

Are these collectible at all?

Wouldn't sawing into the body greatly reduce value?

Or, are they to be beaten upon and modded out when acquired?

Man I would never MOD that! They are commanding a high price on ebay and I assume will only go higher.

Irregardless it is iconic as far as Im concerned.

I had a DMZ6000 back in the day and I can't touch them now!

To be honest I'm not sure, they are somewhat rare basses but I never saw them as collectibles.

Two Js sound like a good idea, how about I just replaced the ****** bridge?

Well, yes, they are collectible - not everyone does, but if you like them they are (I have 3)- and personally, I would leave it as it is. Unless thats a very, very early DMZ, that's an active Dimarzio pickup, and you shouldn't need to do anything to it. It would pay you in the long run to fix whatever needs fixing, and leave it as is. That way, it won't be worth less than you paid for it. All of mine sound just fine as they are.

Well, if you like how it plays, and want it to sound different, then mod the crap out of it. It is a tool. It is not art. (Not that I put billions of dollars in value on art either.)

It is yours. Do what you wish with it. There are plenty of Kramer collectors who will leave theirs in the case so as not to get a blemish on it.

I would say judging by the number of overpriced aluminum necked Kramers that remain listed and unsold on Ebay they are not being bought by the same people looking for Gibsons and Fenders.I reckon I would be lucky to get much more than five or six hundred for mine and it`s in almost mint condition.
