New Lakland 55-AJ

As much as I like the Lakland bridge on most of their designs, that bridge REALLY doesn't work visually IMO on a more classic bass design. It's one of those 'I can't stop looking at the bridge' things.

I'm sure they are excellent instruments (always been impressed with the Lakland USA models), but the look just doesn't work for me at all. IMO there.

AJ is "active jazz". And the bridge had to grow on me, used to hate it... but once it did, that was it. I've had over 15 Laklands now.

Here's some of them, including the first '51 P (prototype) that after a lot of pressure, they finally decided to start producing this year. Also pictured is a Decade 5er prototype and a super rare 35" scale black n maple 4 string 4-76 (top left). Wish I still had them :(.

Invalid Link Removed seems to have [DEL]a few Skyline AJs in stock[/DEL] pictures in their catalog, selling at a VERY nice price point. The site shows a trans charcoal 5 that looks pretty sweet. Just when I was thinking that that my -01 and -02 would keep me for a while...

EDIT: Seems I missed the "Shipping in October" bit. Still, they're on their way.

We had a couple of the AJ's in our shop for pics & to shoot the video. We really couldn't do them justice on film. The video comes close, but they look WAY better in person, and sound like a 44-60 & 55-60 with a little more clarity thanks to the maple top. October is definietly our ETA, but we'll post updates as we get them. Should know something right away since we visit the factory every couple weeks. Thanks!
