New wireless keyboard and mouse for my Mac (bought yesterday)
and a 19" brand spankin' new flat screen monitor being run 1440x900 @ 60Hertz resolution.
Now I can use my Mac as a laptop and when I'm at my desk I connect 2 cables and it's a desktop.
It's a MacBook Dual Core (not 2) that I've had since September. But the desktop setup feature is new. I wanted a Mac desktop, but couldn't afford it and decided this is a cheaper and in some ways better alternative. I don't have to worry about syncing data between desktop and laptop for one, since they're one in the same for me. :D

Now I'm trying to decide if I'm going to run DVI or VGA from Mac to monitor. I'm leaning DVI right now. (Please don't give me the technical garble and tell me DVI is better. I know the technicals behind it and such; I'm a computer salesman and my dad is an IT/SA for the last 20 years professionally and a while before that as a hobby).

I'm not going Windows either. I had a killer Windows desktop (3.3G processor, 700GB Hard Drive, 2GB RAM, separate graphics and sound cards, the whole shabang), built it myself. I gave it to my brother and now I have my Mac. I also have a Toshiba Tablet PC, but I haven't touched it in months. Probably won't use it ever again. Probably going to end up selling it soon. Rarely ever used the Windows desktop while I had it cause I always used the Mac. So I decided to give it to my brother cause for me it was a space waster on my desk. My desk is soo much cleaner and roomier now. :D

I just noticed, what exactly is the macbook resting on?
It's on a "cool stand". It's just a stand that keeps it off the surface for ait to get underneath. Here's a link to it:

Works well. Not as good as the ones with the fans, but smaller, lighter, more portable (as it folds up with all the things facing the same way together, making it really small), and doesn't need a USB port or power supply.

Could have gone BT keyboard and mouse and saved yourself a USB plug :D
Um... my Apple Wireless Keyboard uses 4 AA batteries every six months or so.
BT is a battery killer. This keyboard goes on 2 AAA batteries and the mouse on 2 AA (according to reviews, in 6 months or so depending on frequency of use). So a BT would have used up about double the batteries in the same amount of time. Also, the Apple Wireless Keyboard isn't the greatest. It has no extra keys or anything. With this one, I can launch applications (mail, web browser, iTunes, iPhoto, spotlight), shut down the computer, go backwards on the web, scroll up and down, and control iTunes playback (play/pause, forward, backward); also, the app launcher keys are programmable and you can change it to any application you want. The mouse has 2 clicks, the scroll wheel which also clicks in, volume up down and mute, and forward and back in web pages.

Nice setup , quick question thoug .. how do you prevent the macbook from sleeping when the lid is down ?
change the power management settings. :hyper:

No, not a change in settings. You have it open and connect the keyboard and mouse. Then close the lid, it'll go to sleep. Then hit a keyboard key on the external keyboard, it'll wake the computer back up and the lid is still shut. Or when you turn it on, close the lid right as it's turning on, and it'll stay on cause it won't go to sleep during the start up process.

Great setup. I have the same keyboard/mouse on my iMac. I'm still on my first set of batteries in the keyboard (got it in September) and I'm on my second recharge of the rechargeable AAs in the mouse (recharged them for the second time since getting them about a month ago). I tried the Apple wireless keyboard and I just don't like the feel of the keystrokes on it... same thing that got me to ditch the keyboard that came with my iMac.
