Hello there bass friends.

I've been visiting here for years and as part of my "quit social media" purge I've decided to register and become active here because of all of the high quality threads. I'm bass obsessed, having played guitar for about 25 years before switching over and finding what I've always been looking for on the other instrument.

I've been releasing music online for a few years and have built up a small following which has been amazing for my hobby.

It's been a strange journey - I've owned several Fender J and P basses and figured out, painful as it is, that I am not really a fender bass guy. Currently loving my Ibanez SR1420! (pic attached from when she was new, with the plastic still on the nordys)

Welcome! Very nice SR! Nice to see a new member who also appreciates SRs and 4 strings. I have 2, one a fretless, SR370EF, the other a Premium 1350B. I also love my Fenders, a Jazz Plus and a Sire P5R P-bass clone, so not playing favorites, but right now the fretless SR is my most played. Look forward to seeing your ideas and input on the board. What type of music do you play?

Welcome! I took a break from bass for a couple of years and played guitar in a few bands without telling anyone I was really a bassist... wanted to see what the other side was like, I guess.
During that little side trip I had several bandleaders tell me that they liked having me in the band because I played guitar like a bass player!
I guess I couldn't really hide my true identity.

Just for the record, there's nothing wrong with not being a Fender guy. We're spoiled by choices nowadays. Play what you like!

What type of music do you play?

I've been releasing post rock because it's something I can do here from my home studio without vocals! In terms off what I actually play though, in my free time, I'm studying the heck out of Jamerson and Entwistle.

Just for the record, there's nothing wrong with not being a Fender guy. We're spoiled by choices nowadays. Play what you like!

I'm finding it difficult not to love Fenders, because everyone knows a great bassist plays a fender. That said, I do have a Squier 70s CV P bass that I really, really enjoy playing.
