New member with Dean bass question

Hello Talkbass, this is my first post here I'm a long time lurker but this is my first post. I have done search after search in hopes of finding out what model of Dean bass I have, I picked this bass up a little over a year ago in a pawn shop, and have been clueless as to what model it is.

She has EMG HZ pickups, which sound bright and punchy but I am also confused on those as well....lol First thing first though, here are a couple of pics of my bass in hopes some of you good folks can help a newbie out, I can then go into more detail about my questions about the pickups.

First bass I bought on my own was an amber burst Dean Edge 4. The Q4 should be an upgrade on sound and electronics. From what I recall they are beautiful, play very nice, comfortable string spacing and light.

The sound was pretty decent, but my MIM Jazz Deluxe blew it away. That said mine was a passive vs the active Jazz. They should be cheap, and since they use standard EMG’s it should be quite easy to greatly improve the sound.

Those EMG-HZ pups are passive ceramic humbuckers. Because of the soapbar routing, the world is your oyster when it comes to pickup upgrades. Nice looking bass, have fun.
