New Mesa/Boogie Fathom Amp

I haven't weighed it, but I believe some earlier posts stated it to be 26 pounds.

The "Mesa" logo was silkscreened on the Fathoms, and it was right where the nameplate is now. The "Fathom" name was where it says "M6 Carbine" now.

That is a very manageable weight! I think my former Ashdown ABM500 was about the same. Not bad. I just got a Bergantino AE410 and I'm willing to bet the new Mesa amp would be a great match. But for now, I'm being courted and seduced by both a Markbass LMII, and a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0. But I really want to hear and check out the new M6 Carbine. Very cool. Thanks for posting!

What cabinet are you using? What kind of bass, and what kind of music?

Quick question. Bought an actual fathom, #78 I think, and was wondering does this make it rare like a screwed up coin or dollar bill. By the way this is the best amp i've ever played.
I can't say enough. Versitile across the board.

My M6 Carbine arrived at the dealer yesterday morning.
When we un-boxed the combo we discovered that Mesa dropped the ball.

They are building a correct cabinet to replace the all back and silver piping unit they sent.

Three and one half month wait and now it will be another 30 days before the cabinet I originally ordered will arrive.

That said the combo sounds fabulous, this is one seriously PHAT kick Butt combo.

I checked this thread, and didn't find the dimension of rack depth. Possibly I missed it after a long week...

Can one of you Carbine owners please provide a measurement? I'd like to see if this puppy fits into a 4sp rack I already own.

I ordered it sight-unseen (from a dealer) based on my experience with the M-Pulse 600. (btw, the amp is sold.) It's very different from the M-Pulse series. It's very clean, with just a hint of tube warmth (IMHO, of course), kinda like classic SWRish. That's the best way I can describe it. The notes definitely have a "weight" or "heft" to them. This is no "switching digital power supply" type of thing. It's a great amp, but not what I'm looking for at present. I just acquired a very tubey Aggie DB750, and it's just what the doctor ordered! ; )

Yeah, I saw that you had sold the amp...and a DB750 huh? What a great amp! congrats. Again, the Fathom, or whatever it's called, sounds like it's right up my alley. I'm gonna have to see if they have one at the GC in Boston.

Yes, this is what happens when Guitar Center screws up and gets caught (discounting Mesa stuff), they get punished! :)

Right when they took the bass line away from them I was looking to buy a 2x10 Powerhouse to test out the PH speakers cuz I hadn't played them yet, but everytime I had asked, like a slimy magnet, they pushed me over to the MarkBass stuff (oh its made in ITALY...oooo...Italy...look how light they are!...ooooo...) Bastards. Its almost like a subliminal message sometimes in there...

does anyone know how much the m6 carbine combo runs? i considered looking at one but i can't even find a damn price to know if its something i'd even consider and the closest mesa dealer is two hours from me.

Please do and make sure the shop let's you read the manual first.

I do not work for nor am I endorsed by Mesa Engineering I just personally feee that this amp has received some bad knocks from "too little time" spent with them.

Pre-conceptions of EQ must be abandoned, although straight up on every thing does = Great Tone, be prepared for the huge decibel output this little combo is capable of with that Straight Up = Great setting. ( first EQ suggestion in the manual)

Hey all....Tom told me that he had reviewed the new M6 Carbine and I've been looking forward to checking that out....very good review. The 212 is in there as well. You can check it out online at Invalid Link Removed. You have to sign up for the magazine (free for the online version!) to view, but there is a lot of great info in the magazine. Very impressive all around. Check it out.
