Yes, see post above. That is at 2-ohms with an 8-ohm cab.
8-ohm cab at 2-ohm setting will be roughly 300 watts.
4-ohm load at 2-ohm setting will be about 600 watts.
2-ohm load at 2-ohm setting will be 800 watts.

It also feels like the power amp damping effect becomes more apparent in the response.

It does because the output tube overdrive emulation interacts with the feel of the damping.

If you really think about it it's pretty cool that the amp was designed to run in a lower power mode to keep the volume down, and simultaneously provide the tone and response in line with a lower power amp being pushed.
Combine that with a great sounding cab that has specs that allow this to sound full at these same lower volumes.
Same amp and cab or cabs are capable of volumes that register on the Richter scale when called upon.
Life is good, yes yes it is.

I tried running the WD at the 2ohm setting into a 4 ohm 215 cab. Loved how it seemed to thicken up and compress just a bit. Closer to the feel and heft of my BB800. I’ll likely use it in the 2 ohm mode All the time.

That's what I loved about the WD from the beginning...so many features and capabilities to fine tune tone, voicing and feel, yet it sounds impressive right out of the box with everything in the "neutral position".

I have one. It's a really nice cabinet. Overkill for most of the stuff with which I'm currently involved, but nice nonetheless.

So does that mean I could add an 8 ohm 1x15 in conjunction to the two 8 ohm 1x12s I currently use and my WD800 would handle that?
