No, the damping feature is a function within the power amp only.

I broke down and ordered a WD800 as well.
I love my D800 but I really had to try the WD800 as I wouldnt mind having a bit more tubey tone and feel with more tweakbility, plus it can charge my ipad.
I am going to A/B them and most likely... keep them both.

That's very much the effect, subtle with some speakers and pretty obvious with others, the effect is also more pronounced into 4 and 2 ohms like the original WA.

I spent a good part of the evening yesterday working with the WD800 through a Hathor 1203. After a while, my wife poked her head through the door and said, "Remember your ears." (She was right. I went a bit too far.)

Real estate dimensions seem close, how well did the WD800 sit on the Hathor 1203 ??

Perfect fit - the feet slot onto the corners and it is fairly locked in place.

If you can't find a pair of headphones that does exactly what you want, then you either aren't looking or aren't willing to fork out enough $$$

It was a perfect fit on my Challenging 12T as well even with the additional "slots" in the back of the top.
