New MLaghus basses - WARNING: VERY LARGE PICTURES

Basses look sweet! Yeah they may be a bit similar visually to pre existing basses but,..

WHO FREAKING CARES!! It blows me away that people get so caught up in the the visual edifice of a MUSICAL INSTRUMENT. These aren't industrial design products; they're meant to make a sound first and foremost.

For that matter, the most important (I should think) elements that would be most SENSIBLE to be patented or otherwise protected would be things like; wood combinations and basic construction types, neck shapes and nut widths, pickup design and locations, and electronics.

EVERYBODY has tried to cop the tone of P, J, MM, Ric, and other "original" basses, and nobody makes any fuss about it. But instruments are made to make sound, not sit behind a glass case being looked at and judged for original design points. I can't believe people wig out about this all the time, I honestly can't.

Not to restart this flame war, but a huge part of industrial design is branding, usability and appearance. Way more than just the sound

It's a beautiful beast.

I don't understand why some people are "offended" by the design. Everyday i see at least one bass of a well known brand copying/inspired by famous designs. Why is this a big deal? Because they're boutique models?
