New Music Man Starry Night PDN

I did not do a pre-order but was instead lucky enough to pick up a Bongo 5 HH from Sweetwater. I'm digging it.

This makes no sense. You can buy them at Bass Central and Sweetwater. Not sure why the pre-orders would be coming in after they are available to everyone else.

It looks like specific models are slowly trickling out. For instance, I've seen 4 and 5 string Stingrays, 5 string Bongos and one 5-string Sterling hit the shelves. All of the Rays were either H or HH config. No HS. No neck-through. No Classics.

There isn't much activity on the EBMM forum either.

Got a note my Classic's body is set, waiting on the neck now. 5 string with matching headstock. We shall see.

Just took a look at the ones on Sweetwater. Hoping for a more monochrome look like that Bongo 5, but I'm pretty sure this is going to be fantastic however it rolls out.

Feeling VERY silly about doing a preorder and waiting if they are at retailers already but such is life.

They are only available to order from certain Premier dealers. I would say in most cases the dealer places a bulk order that includes both pre-orders for individuals and however many that they decide that they want to sell in their store. I doubt EBMM really has any idea if it is a instrument that has already been spoken for or not. They are just filling the order that was placed.

No hard feelings. This is one PDN offering that I don't feel EBMM is on top of. Usually these things hit the stores all at once. This time around there seems to be co fusion as to when customers and dealers are getting them, pricing is all over the map, etc. Very messy.

From my understanding and experience with the one PDN bass that I ordered, EBMM somewhat produces the PDN runs in the order that they are placed. That doesn't mean they don't batch models together for the sake of production. I know on my all rosewood order a few years ago, several of the guitars that the dealer ordered showed up weeks before my Stingray. He ordered two Stingrays that showed up the same day while the two Bongos that were ordered showed up a little later. Also, my order showed up a month later than the initial ETA... so nothing new there. I waited until the last couple of days of the 1 month window on both of my orders. I'm guessing if a dealer placed an order early in the ordering window... those might be the ones that we are seeing pop up for sale now. BTW... I ordered a Sterling HS with matching headstock and I was told my wait will be till sometime in February.

That is going to be an awesome bass. I guess to be more clear, all of the other PDN's were out of the factory within about a month-long span. This is the first one that I can recall trickling out over a 3-4 month period. However, this is one of the better offerings so hopefully the number of orders greatly exceeded their expectations. It also seems as though there are a lot more models now than there have been in the past too.

Yes it will be. I'm aware that I will lose my :rollno:ss if I ever resale this bass and it is a crazy amount to spend on a Sterling (especially a 4 string), but out of all my basses my good ol' Sterling HH is my favorite to play. I just love the neck on it & roasted maple will make it even better. I already have a roasted maple 5 string Stingray so I feel I'm covered there since I mostly play 4s

I agree... this is one of the better offerings they have had for awhile. I have been tempted by a few of the PDNs over the last couple of years. I'm glad I waited for this one.

Ordered a fretless HS Stingray. So if they are doing it by type, could be why it is later.
