New Neck...or New Bass???

I am looking for some opinions. My current bass, a Made in Mexico P Bass Anniversary is in need of a new neck. I got this bass through a trade and have been using it for years semi-pro. I love the tone. However, the neck is at this point unadjustable. The truss rod is maxed out and each season it gets a little worse. I adjusted the action and its a little better, but now I have a dead spot at the 12th fret on the D string!
So I have been looking at replacement necks which range from about $50 to $600+ dollars. The bass is playable and it is not an emergency. Its not a super expensive instrument to begin with, so should I invest in a pricey neck? Are the bargain necks not to be considered? Should I just search for a new bass? Opinions?

Get a new neck and buy a new bass. WIN WIN.

If you can only do one at the moment; get a new bass, save the P and get a new neck when you can afford it. WIN WIN

I've had ok luck getting bargain necks off ebay, though I avoid the obviously ultra-cheap flimsy looking ones. I wouldn't spend over maybe $150 on a neck for a MIM though, just not worth it.

Maybe it just needs a couple washers to gain some more truss rod adjustment, and possibly some minor fretwork... If not, I'd probably get something like this if I were in your shoes:

Or, I'd look for something suitable here:
