Hi all,

I've spent a few years lurking on the forum, so I figured I'd might as well join.

Things I like:
Basses (obviously)
Coffee
Jeeps

Things I don't like:
Car chases in movies
Socks that are too tight
Vicks Vapo Rub

Memorable event in my life:
At a Buddy Rich Orchestra show when I was 13, standing in the lobby at intermission, Buddy comes up to me and says, "Quit blocking the door, kid!"

That's pretty much me in a nutshell...

We were friends right up until the car chase thing. The car chase in the original Blues Brothers movie that ended the lives of dozens and dozens of cars is cinematic genius to me.

Watched ET tonight, the bicycle chase is classic. Probably been 20 years since I first say ET. Tonight it was that or Grease and ET won.

Ah, Sacramento. I grew up in El Lay and remember taking a picture of a squirrel on the capital lawn when I was about five years old, and 40 years later broke down there on the freeway during rush hour. My two memories of Sacramento. I became a professional photographer and spent many years working as a mechanic as well. Go figure. Welcome to TB.

Got a bang out of your introduction...
Me:
Basses and and coffee—excellent;
Jeep—bought a slightly used wagon; transmission crapped out; traded for a Prius wagon....
Vapo Rub— bad allergies; a bit on my nostrils and I’m good to go... though the smell drives my wife nuts!
My Buddy Rich connection: years ago, drove shuttle bus at annual Jackie Robinson Jazz festival, held on his estate; while on break, bus drivers were allowed to get food in performers’ area; while chowing down, Buddy Rich sat down next to me to eat, as we watched Ella perform... unfortunately, I was driving my bus while he was onstage...

I had an 83 CJ7 .. put an AMC 360 with headers and side pipes in it. Dana 20... nice jalopy for awhile. Couldnt keep rear main seal from weeping.. and one frost plug kept needing changing every year. ..
Loved the 83 because had large ring gears in stock axles.
Terrible heater though...
Who needs doors and a roof...
