New outsourced Fender strings

I´ve been reading the posts on TB regarding Fender´s new strings, and it´s my impression that they have garnered a negative reponse from TB:ers. Personally I feel that the new 7250-5 and 8250-5M sets are lightyears ahead of the old sets, in tone and feel. I bought a new Fender J-bass Deluxe V in 2010 that came with the new 7250s, and I was very surprised at the quality of these strings, as I never cared for the old Fender strings. Does anybody else like the new ones better, except for me? I also wonder what happened to the Fender USA Strings Facebook page, it seems to have disappeared, I hope Fender are´nt giving up promoting these new strings.

I think a lot of people like them and that they will sell a lot more of the new ones than before; that said, anyone who likes the old ones and is upset they can no longer buy them will probably be very vocal about it here.

You can't really judge anything by the number of posts on a forum, IMO. Every tendency seems so exaggerated, for example.

You´re probably right, did´nt think of that myself. I feel a bit stupid right now..

Based on the Fender strings I've tried, I think the new ones are as good, if not even better than the old ones.

I'll admit-when they first changed, I assumed they wouldn't be as good, so went in search of something else.

But after I gave them a chance, I've concluded that there's nothing to worry about. All based on my own experience of course.

They're D'Addario so they should be pretty good.

liked the old 7150 (pure nickel) and love the new 7150,7250 and 7350's! All great strings on a 4 st. jazz bass both neck thru and old style.

All the new ones do what they are supposed to with no fluff. nuff said

It was a mixed bag for me. I used 7250 light gauge sets for years, and when I tried they new ones they sounded thin and twangy to me. However, the new Acoustic bass strings were less tensioned than the D'Addario ones and sounded better to me, that shows there is a difference between the brands' strings even if they are both made by D'.
I liked the new flats better, and were less tensioned than the old ones. I just wished they made a set in .45-.95 my arthritic hands could handle.

Ok - after a couple of months, I'm convinced they're not as long lasting as the old Fender made ones. In particular, the E on the 3 sets I bought went dead super quick.

Anyone recommend something real close to the old 7250s?

Cheers

Have you tried GHS Boomers. I have Boomers on one pbass and old style 7250's on the other and they feel and sound very similar IMO.
