New Peter Gabriel

I've heard three tracks (two different mixes each) from the forthcoming album, and I'm looking forward to hearing more. I will almost certainly buy the CD when it's released (presuming he releases it on CD). Would love to see the tour this year, but the timing works out terrribly for me -- when he's on the East Coast I'll be on the West Coast and vice-versa -- so I may be resigned to missing him this time out. But it's definitely one of the few arena concerts in the past, oh, say, 20 years that I'd be excited about attending.
I saw him last during the UP tour (2002-3), front row at Madison Square Garden. Honestly don't think I blinked once during the show.

Yep, I'm really anticipating having a great summer with this album. I don't know if I'll be able to swing seeing his show and the album may just have to be enough.
I would rather attend a concert where I knew the audience members had to pay above a certain amount. I would feel safer about going.
At MSG…that reminds me of when “I saw him at MSG.” It was the encore for Genesis’ 1978 show at the Garden. As they started “I know What I like” a funny-looking, crew-cut fellow in a Mao jacket came out and started singing and playing percussion. I of course knew it was Peter come to play with his old chums. Most of the audience probably was in the dark until the end when Phil shouted into his mic, “Mr Peter Gabriel!!!”
How classist of you. Please explain how you would not be “safe”, what ever that means, among people who could only afford, say, $70 tickets.
This is exciting. What I've found with Peter, especially his more recent stuff, is that I have to listen to all of the songs in the context of the entire album in order to properly enjoy them. That said, "The Court" sounds too much like the standard pop fare out there now, and I expect more from Peter. "Playing For Time", however, is an excellent track.
It's the principle. I doubt you have never had similar attitudes. It's just semantics.
I guess you may have a point. But most Peter Gabriel fans would be ok regardless of what they could afford.

Enough with the dog whistles, explain what “safe” is supposed to mean. I’ve been in plenty of dive bars where fights have broken out, and a bouncer was shot one time, let alone a few aggro punk rock scenarios, but I knew what I might be getting into. However, at a standard concert, with security and metal detectors, what exactly are you talking about? Or are you afraid of being amongst some sort of riff-raff? Perish the thought.
Well, I would never have attended a GG Allin concert if that answers you question. I wouldn't care about the "class" level of those in attendance either.

For all that he puts into his stagecraft and production, I can see $140, I think they cheapest I saw last night for Boston was $128. But I'm going to gladly fork it over for me and I'm forcing my wife to go. If the Talking Heads ever did another tour, I would pay whatever David Byrne wanted.
It's not just inflation. It's because all the freaky kids who listened to rock music in the 80s have grown up and have more money to spend.
