Right you are. I would say they were probably overpriced, being in the range of the MIJ Reissue.

I was thinking the same thing. Even better - replace the P with a Mustang PU and replace the J with a Musicmaster PU. That's what I'm thinking about building out of a Bronco bass.

It would have to right? P/PJ/J.

I greatly prefer the switch over two volumes. Blend shmend. Blending pickups is never blendy enough anyway.

I like it. Always wanted a P pickup mustang bass for playing on the couch. Couldn't build one from scratch from warmoth or anything. Neat.

I'm glad to see Fender expanding their medium scale basses, but PJ ?. Ho Hum. Isn't there any other option besides sticking the same old pickups on a bass. I don't know who's running Fender Marketing / Design but they need some new blood.

Like slapping some Curtis Novak's BS-DS darkstars in there? That would be cool. But Fender doesn't make those. Maybe the dimension pups? ... or a P/Dim. or reverse P/Dim

I think the Mustang looks really good, but the pickups being just taken off a normal PJ and slammed on a Mustang looks odd to me. IMO it would have been way cooler if they had kept the pickups design orginal from the Mustang and done the neck pickup accordingly. But I bet this costs them much less.

Definitely won't be able to find different pickguards due to the P-bass pickup and 3 way switch.

Either way, I love it. One of the only complaints I have with my MIJ Mustang is the pick-up. This version puts that to rest.

Nordstrand, Aero, and SD make excellent replacements, each with a very different vibe. I use an Aero and think it simply rules.

I personally love this and I personally love the white. While uninspired, a PJ bass is arguably the most musically useful pickup combination for a passive bass and easy/cheap to upgrade and modify. It doesn't need to be quirky. A regular Mustang Bass with its non standard pickup and bridge is plenty quirky. I like that they're using a standard bridge, too. It makes buying strings easier. I've always loved the VM Jag SS and this is basically that with a lighter Mustang body. So I love it. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

I don't think it's medium scale.

I like it. It looks like they borrowed the bridge and pickup placement from the Squier Jaguar SS. The bridge will allow more string choices, since the strung-through Mustang uses medium scale. Better body wood and a better bridge pickup would definitely set this bass a few cuts above the Squier Jag.
