Right you are. I would say they were probably overpriced, being in the range of the MIJ Reissue.

They should've kept the mustang pickup and added the jazz.

I'm glad to see Fender expanding their medium scale basses, but PJ ?. Ho Hum. Isn't there any other option besides sticking the same old pickups on a bass. I don't know who's running Fender Marketing / Design but they need some new blood.
Nordstrand, Aero, and SD make excellent replacements, each with a very different vibe. I use an Aero and think it simply rules.Definitely won't be able to find different pickguards due to the P-bass pickup and 3 way switch.
Either way, I love it. One of the only complaints I have with my MIJ Mustang is the pick-up. This version puts that to rest.
