New PJ Mustang at Summer NAMM

Looks like the truss rod adjusts at the headstock end of the neck. That's a plus.

A shame that a traditional stang split coil wasn't mated with a cool mini humbucker. I get this though, from the recent Jaguar P-J models.

I 've always preferred the Mustang body shape to that of the Jaguar/Jazzmaster.

I must be one of the few who actually likes the original, string-through bridge on my Mustang Bass. But PLEASE, Fender: give us some other color options than Oly White! 3-color sunburst would be nice. And if they offered these with maple necks, well, I wouldn't be able to restrain myself!

I like the standard, string through Mustang bridge too. I also like the stock Mustang pickup.

I don't like having to take the neck off to adjust the truss rod though.
Really glad to see the change made to that part of it.

The Squier Jaguar SS is selling like hot cakes. I'm not surprised at all they'd want to expand the P/J theme.

I wouldn't count on a bunch of color options. At least not at first.
If they start selling like crazy, then maybe.
I think that Sea Foam Green would look great on this.

Standard Jaguar is silver, black, white. I guess that's a starting point possibly. Bass players are expected to settle for less, but from a factory perspective I still don't get it.

I would be fine with white, black, and silver it they added one more color. Something retro and cool. Sonic or daphne blue or sea foam green.

The more I think about it, the more I'm pretty sure I'll get one.

I'll buy one if they will bother to send it to my local shop.

I tried for 6 months to get them to send me a natural Starcaster.

After a while I figured it was just not meant to be.

You don't have to take the neck off. A narrow slotted screw driver is all you need.

Played it. Sounded like a Mustang with a PJ. I'd say that it will definitely have appeal, especially for ladies and small fingered players. It was fun to try, and sounded fine.

Mine butts up flat against the neck pocket.

A few people here have had a slot routed in the body so they can use a bent 90 degree screwdriver.

You can also loosen the screws on the back, tilt the neck up to adjust it and hope the threads don't strip out.

Or you can remove the neck. Which is what I do.

You don't need to do any of those things. Trust me. I can adjust the truss rod on my 66 Mustang Bass with a NARROW flat head screwdriver, and the same goes for my 1968 Precision Bass. I've never even scratched the pick guard on either instrument. The key phrase here is "narrow flat head screwdriver." Never use a phillips head. They are designed for a flat head. All you need is 1/4 of the truss rod nut to be visible to do it this way... the way Leo intended.

Not that I doubt you. But I'm willing to bet that it sounds like a P/J, and feels like a Mustang.

My Mustang and P/J sound different from each other.

I've had my Mustang almost 4 years and have never needed to adjust the truss rod.

The MIJ reissues are different. You can't even see the slot with the pick guard on.
