New PJ Mustang at Summer NAMM

Only thing that could make this better is more competition stripes.
I'd love to have three competition stripe basses to match my three Mustangs.

If you can't tell, Mustangs are my favorite guitars, and I've always loved playing Mustang Basses but preferred other basses for tone, so this new is actually great for me.
OK - I guess it's real. And I like it.
I doubted at first because Fender brought out a couple Mustangs and dropped them,
despite people wanting them enough that there was talk of a petition for them.
Can't wait to get my hands on one.
Just about the same as that Fender Modern Player short scale jazz bass that was made in China.
Shortest run for a bass ever I think. It was gone very soon after they announced it.
Maybe they'll have better luck with one made in Mexico.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to get one of these. Was thinking about a P bass but this is a little more interesting.
From the video, it looks like the guitars get all the fun colors. Everyone knows that bass players are boring, so white will do.
Why couldn't Fender make a really good medium and even short scale bass? I have to believe there is a market for basses like this. Not just student basses tarted up with old pickups. A new body style, new colors? Why do they keep rehashing the same old stuff ?
Is it too much to ask for a sonic blue or seafoam green to be thrown in the mix? I would even take a Lake Placid Blue or Sherwood Green.

I built a Warmoth P/J with a 3-way. I love it. No need for anything more complex. Simple Tele wiring.
This would be a LOCK for me if it came in natural--though I'll probably still buy it anyway if the price is as suggested. I've always wanted a Mustang Bass.
I'm gonna call a big fat "no way" on the $550 natural MIM bass, though. They wood they're going to choose for that price would not be suitable for a natural finish. But I'd also happily take a Sonic Blue
Lotsa wishful thinking going on here. Based on the shade of white, pricing, and MiM origin, I'd say it will follow the same color scheme as the Jag and Dimension (Oly, Black, and Silver). Regular MiM standard colors being included is the best we can hope for.

What makes a Mustang?
I really like this new bass. Maybe I'm old fashioned, I don't know.
It doesn't have Mustang pickups, it doesn't have a Mustang bridge,
and it doesn't have a Mustang style heel truss rod adjuster (Yay!!!!).

It's also got a 3 way toggle switch that hasn't been on a stock Mustang before.
Maybe these are all more modern improvements that will only make it better.
But it seems to be more on the order of a Pawn Shop Mustang,
a piecing together of non-standard ideas, rather than a re-issue type Mustang.
Not that I'm complaining about that. It's a great concept.
It does have a Mustang shaped body, and it's 30" scale.
I guess that's enough for Fender to call it a Mustang.
Like I said though, I really like it. It's exactly what a lot people have been asking for.
I've got several Mustangs already, and don't really need any more basses.
If I do get another bass though, it will be this one.

I must be one of the few who actually likes the original, string-through bridge on my Mustang Bass. But PLEASE, Fender: give us some other color options than Oly White! 3-color sunburst would be nice. And if they offered these with maple necks, well, I wouldn't be able to restrain myself!
