I met some guys in Wa, That are making what I consider to be the BEST powered Bass Cabs I have ever heard! The company is call Uncontained Sound and they have a video on Youtube. The 2x10 cab I played through was 450w with a horn and I plugged straight into the cab! I used a 65 Jazz reissue with a J-retro Preamp and actually had to turn the bass down! I know that EBS used to make powered cabs, are there any other companies out there doing this sort of thing still?

Bag End offers powered bass enclosures, and Bergantino has the phenomenal IP series of powered cabs (with DSP).

Though not strictly aimed at bass players, Meyer Sound makes some killer, killer powered enclosures which many have used for bass with great success.

Tom.

I was just checking these out. Pretty fascinating article about Anthony Jackson in a recent BP. He runs his Fodera 6-string into a high-end preamp and from there into one of two different Beyer configs. Most of their powered cabs are on the large side, but they do have some with medium-ish footprints and smaller drivers.
