I'm not in the market for a Sterling Stingray, but it seems idiotic that Ernie wouldn't have come up with a different name for that line of guitars.
Those are not EBMM product. They didnt name it. EBMM doesn't do imports.
They're made by Praxis and are a licensed copy: Guitar Center wanted these to exist and have a more 'associated' name and came up with it, because the former OLP was a failure. GC is EBMM's biggest retailer and GC really wanted an import line to exist, so EBMM agreed to license as long as the line actually looked like the US ones and actually be quality. The OLP line was horrible.
