Selling it would be optional, since I don't think it looks that bad.keep it as is, call it a road worn and sell it for a profit.

But how did it get out of the factory in the first place? Surely paint shouldn't just 'flake off' like that?? I understand he got it cheaper because of the defect, but why is the defect there?
You're missing the option of it looking fine to get through QC and then the paint flaking later.
This would mean QC did do its job. It would point to a materials issue that has nothing to do with QC.
