New rig doubt

Hi, i'm planning to buy a decent rig, for both rehersals and small to medium gigs.
I'm planning to use my boss gt-10b, so i'm trying to figure if I should use the preamps of the boss and get an active fullrange speaker for monitoring or get a head+cab system. I've come down to a ampeg pf 350 + cab vs a RCF ART 710-A MKII active speaker.
With the amp rig, I would use the head preamp into some pedals and use the gt10b for the rest of effects. This rig's maximum power is 350w at 4ohm.
On the other hand, the monitor rig, the rcf speaker is 10" with 700w, very portable which pleases me. Can be upgrated with a subwoofer for larger venues.
Both systems are in the same price range(- the sub upgrade).
Which rig would you choose? :hmm:

I'm from azores islands. Here, a portaflex rig is about 800€. I guess i'm afraid of being stuck with the ampeg tone. I'm not sure it is the right amp for me. I also like some jazz and eletro stuff and i wouldnt want to compromise those areas too.

I do about 70% of my gigs with only my bass and my GT10b running through the PA, no bass amp. The tone you get from a bass cab as your stage monitor, won't be anywhere close to the tone in the FOH. For monitoring I use a Yamaha SV15. It does everything I need and gives me a true representation of the tone I'm sending the FOH. IME and IMO, you should use a 15" monitor and stay away from the bass amp unless you are going to mic the bass cab and send it to the FOH.

go with the bass amp. I use a pf-350 with a sansamp vt-bass direct into the house and into the 'effects return' input of the amp. Sending my signal to the effects return bypasses the amp's preamp and gives me a good idea of the sound I am sending to the house. For jazz trio and combo gigs I just go with my double bass >Pure preamp> pf-350. If you are into jazz it's important to have your own amp for trio and combo situations.

Good point bassgod0dmw, a single 10" wouldnt move much air...
I'll do some experiments with a 15" and see how it works on the garage. I would really like to use this rig setup. Planning to use the XLR outs of the gt10b to the FOH, Rooster009.
My only concern here is the quality of the preamps. IMO, I think the ampeg head will sound better and I can always use the 4 cable method, where the ampeg's preamp can be inserted anywhere in the effect chain. This option seems much more appealing to me, nothing looks cooler than a bass amp on stage and the ampeg sounds just great to my ears. Top-down, haven't decided yet...

Thanks for the feedback :)
