Ordered it a month and a half ago. I was planning on going through Jay from the great reviews and the way he was so helpful throughout all my correspondences with him, but I went for Atlanta Bass Gallery for proximity and the fact that Jim is also a stellar guy. Gard sprinkled the buy me dust and I sprang for it: SKB 3006 fretless I'm excited about this one. Only thing I haven't figured out is Dem or Bart...
Nice I would go Demeter if you want a more modern tone , more defined. Bart if you want a more mellow all around tone. I plan on getting an lg3005 (i have a thread about it on the first page still) and i plan on going Demeter.
Nope, bubinga! It's cut from the same "stock" as the one that Halftooth will be getting next week (it actually shipped out today). For the record, Stachio's getting an SKB 3006, fretless diamondwood.
Definitely. I didn't even want a bass. I'm not even sure I play bass. Gard told me I needed one. Fig - That's the vibe I got from trying both out. Didn't put nearly enough time into trying out the Roscoe with the Dem, though. I'll have to go back to the Bass Gallery and give his SKB 3006 fretless with the Dem a go...after finals. I completely forgot about the posting the specs, but I guess Gard picked up my slack. It's going to be a rainbow diamonwood board (as opposed to straight black).
(Behold, the power of the Dark Side....) Yeah, it is... ...up for some disc golf again yet? Or, is it too damn cold this weekend for you too??? (Frost???? On my car??? Hey, I'm from Florida, we don't HAVE frost!!! )
Thanks a lot! I can't wait to get it next week and sit down to play it. I'm hoping it even sounds better than it looks.
Congrats on the new Roscoe, Stachio!!! It looks like we have another winner on our hands, and I'm sure that you're psyched about joining the Roscoeheads....we'll talk about what you can expect from the boys during your initiation! Definatley keep us posted with updated photos on this one.
Remember: You don't have to own a Roscoe to be a Roscoehead. You just have to love them. Welcome Stachio already.
Hey. Was that a Spanish Cedar body wood. It didn't look like Swamp Ash to me, but I really don't know what Spanish Cedar looks like. As far as Demeter/ Bartolini preamps: I had a Bart in my fretted SKB-3006 and eventually switched it for the Demeter. I find that it is more well defined, it is a bit brighter, but it's not too bright. It cuts through the mix better too. I'm sold on the Demeter. The only issue I have with it is that the sound of the Demeter switch is so similar in both positions, that I find it difficult to hear a difference. I still switch it back and forth depending on the song, but it doesn't seem to make a difference to my ear. The lack of a significant difference between the two positions doesn't bother me because I love the way it sounds. I don't know anything about the Aguilar Preamp. Have fun! It's beautiful so far. You've also picked the right fingerboard for your fretless. Diamondwood is great!
Doc, that is definitely a swamp ash body. Spanish cedar will be more tan in color when unfinished, similar to mahogany. And Stachio, Bob's right, the Roscoehead newsgroup is open to all, c'mon in! Roscoeheads
I past due for the Roscoehead crew since this will be Roscoe #2 (had an LG 3005 with maple on mahogany). Bassmanbob - It's swamp ash...hmm bubinga on swamp ash with a diamonwood board...sounds familiar *Looks to Sonus Special in corner* I'll keep you guys as updated as Gard keeps me updated .
Thanks for the link Gard. I've been meaning to join the Roscoehead Yahoo group since it opened. Considering I coined the term, I guess I should join.
Nice. Now what you should do is call Tripster and get one of the new Glockenklang pre's to put in it. Forget the demeter and barts!
Cute kids. Love the alian picture too. Oh, the bass is amazing BTW. Everything about it is just gorgeous! Now have Keith route out the entire back of the bass to put in the Bartocanoli, Dumeter, Christina Aguilara, Glockenshlocken preamps with a four way switch! Yeah. That's the ticket. Seriously. That's going to be one of the coolest basses I've ever seen.
