We don't really do an "oil" finish, we do a particular lacquer finish that LOOKS like an oil finish though. Just holds up better.

From the Roscoeguitars web site:
"Roscoe builds 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 string electric bass guitars entirely by hand and entirely in our own factory. Unlike many builders of fine handmade instruments, none of our manufacturing is sent out. Even our fine high-gloss and hand rubbed oil finishes are applied by us. Raw lumber comes in and finished instruments go out."

Man, there's only so many hours in the day, and that website just never gets any of 'em.

And I now have my second Roscoe on the way. But coming all the way from FL, I am guessing that it won't be here till the beginning of next week, so I'll have to wait until next weekend to get my grubby hands on it. And I hate waiting.![]()
So, this whole deal worked out for everyone--me (getting Roscoe #2), Bob (able to order his new one), and the guys at Roscoe (another bass to build)![]()

Roscoe5 said:Question for Gard, or anyone else: How many Roscoes are getting the new Nordstrand pickups and how would you characterize them compared with the standard Bart soapbars? And when is the Demeter Preamp requested versus the Bart 3 band? Also, what is the sonic difference between Spanish Cedar Body wood compared with Swamp Ash?
Yes, this thread (and my general respect and admiration for Keith Roscoe and his exeptional basses) has wetted my appetite for spec'ing a new Roscoe in the near future.
Thanks - Gary
