New Rumble arrived today...dissapointed.

Sorry to sound sarcastic but being disappointed by a Fender amp can't really be a surprise.
Save for a few exception like the Sunn copicat, even the most expensive ones sound like entry models and are severelly underpowered.
It's been this way for years.

However, a lack of lows is surprising since it's typically all they deliver.

We need a dislike button.

You, sir, have never played through the new v3 series, have you? While it may lack something someone in particular is looking for, I can assure you it's not power.

Though I'm smelling the stench of a troll, I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you're ignorant to the latest Fender product line. However, in showing solidarity to my co-hort, alaskaleftybass, I will abstain from eating French fries for the rest of March.

You, sir, have been slapped in the face with my glove. Touché! :spit:

Seriously? This dude ain't no troll; seen him on countless threads over the years. Pretty much, you disagree with his opinion, and decide to disparage him, and then his entire country... And Alaskaleftybass, too! Not sure how that kind of crappy, xenophobic attitude contributes to the conversation here, but then, feel free to say and do as you like...

EDIT: FWIW, I have played a Fender Rumble 40, 100, and 500 (combo); frankly none of them sounded very good to me, and I played the 100 every day for 6 weeks in the summer. You gonna tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about either? Wouldn't find it too surprising at this point...:rollno:

He's no troll, some people just have strong feelings.

To the op: Check your battery if you have an active bass.

I respect your opinion on Fenders.

I will say that I was VERY pleasantly surprised at the Rumble 500 and Rumble 112 cab I tried out a few weeks ago. PLENTY of lows, lots of headroom, good clarity. In some ways, it was Genz-Benz-ish, as far as being a clean, clear, amp with some guts. In all, not a bad product for the money. I quite disliked the 210 cab - a lot. However, if budget were an issue, I'd seriously consider the Rumble 500 and 2x 112 combo.

For reference, my string of amps over the past 10 years has been Aguilar AG500, Epifani UL502, Genz Benz ShuttleMax9.2, Acoustic Image Focus and Clarus, and Phil Jones D600... I have a strong idea of what "boutique" amps sound like.

A 2 x 12 cab stack sounds awesome! So in your opinion the Rumble 500 kind of captured a "boutique" vibe of its own?

I used an Epifani 2x112 stack for a number of years and it was AMAZING for electric bass. I never should have let that one go, but I needed a cab better suited to upright. But I digress...

As for the Rumble, it sounded very good in the short time I had with it. The chassis design leaves MUCH to be desired, though. It's basically thin, stamped sheet metal. Not that many other more expensive amps are not as well, but it just didn't feel as solid as the others. My PJB D600 has a 1/4" thick face plate; the Fender was more like 3/32". Nothing about it, from a design perspective, said "boutique". In fact, it kinda screams "Chinese".

Sound-wise, though, it was pretty reminiscent of the more transparent light-weight amps on the market.

Sounds like a dud. The rumble v3's are supposed to be awesome and the ones ive played through have been suuuuper bottom heavy, which I dig. My rumble v2 has some eeeeeeepic lo mids which I prefer and the form factor was a little better. Hope you can get this sorted out man these amps are killer for the price

I didn't get that at all. I got dark and muffled with not much character. Loud and inexpensive, yes. Versatile tones, no.

That's what I thought through the 210 cab. The 112 made a HUGE, drastic difference. I absolutely would not consider the 210. I would consider the 112.

And FWIW, I was actively A/Bing the Rumble 500/112 with a Phil Jones Suitcase Compact/C4 (nearly all my gear is Phil Jones...), a GK combo (the 500W 210) and an Ampeg BA210 with a student of mine. Same room, same bass, same player (me). The Fender held it's own surprisingly well - as long as we used the 112. The Fender 210 cab didn't fair well.

Okay, I'll agree and beg for forgiveness as well. Maybe there wasn't any trolling going on here, but that doesn't change the fact that if you haven't personally auditioned the piece of equipment you're posting remarks about then you shouldn't be surprised by less-then-positive comments from others. My guess if Jazz Ad demoed the new series he might not mention underpowered as a reason for not liking the brand.

Anyway, even Jazzy hit "like" so lighten up fellas and join me in some French fries.

I tried putting the amp up on a 12" stand, in the corner, and moved it all around the room' it doesn't change the sound. The room is a 12x15 rectangle with 8 foot ceilings. I had the Rumble 100 in the same place and it had more bass, the Rumble 200 I briefly had in the same room made some weird popping and a very loud hissing noise, but the lows were good. I plugged my Ipod into this new one and it is weak. It would not hit lows hardly at all and it's not very loud. Is there an easy way to see if the speakers are wired wrong or should I just take it to GC and exchange it. They don't have one in stock so it will be a week or so to get another one. I have had a run of bad products from Fender and I am about fed up with them.

By putting in a 123 inch stand you mean tat you raised the amp from the ground? None bass amp and none bass cabinet will be able to produce lows in that situation.

It sounds like your "Fender bias" maybe affecting the sound. If you have never liked the sound of a Fender amp why would you buy one?

I had not been a big fan of modern Fender amps; however, the used Rumble 500 combo I recently got has impressed me. Plenty of low ends particularly when I used the "Vintage" button. Last night I accidentally hit the "bright" and that was a bit to bright on the highs; but, the lows were rocking". Does it have the sound of and Eden D410XST? No; but, it also doesn't have the cost or weight of a classic cabinet. It does a very respectable job for a moderate priced 210 light weigh combo amp. You may have one with issues.
