New Schecter short scale P Bass

Always nice to see more SS offerings.:)

Pricewise, much cheaper than a Vintera Mustang, but more than a regular MIM. Probably a reasonable price point, I guess.

The string through is a negative, since it will be like Mustangs that don't work with typical SS strings.

I personally think it is a good option as the potential increase in overall string tension with the extended length should help with the reduced scale length. Frankly not sure why isn't isn't an option on all modern short scale basses

The extra length does not affect tension at all. Tension is purely a factor of tuning a particular gauge string to pitch.

Ok thankfully it looks like it can be strung through the bridge also, so people unfamiliar this type of bass won't get messed up by string choices.
Yes...you have a choice on the Banshee.
Per the listing:
Schecter High Mass Bass Bridge – your choice of String Thru or Top Load setup

In terms of pricing, Schecter is notorious for setting their list prices a little too high but their basses usually get discounted drastically at stores eventually to a more realistic price. I've owned quite a few Schecter basses, well made basses but I do think the MSRP is set too high.

Yes this is 100% true. I've seen plenty of elite stilletos and other similarly priced basses that end up getting marked down by 50%

Whenever I see companies other than Fender designing basses that look so much like Fender designs from half a century ago, with that giant headstock (which can contribute to neck-dive, extra weight, and bash into stuff), I can't help but wonder why. Shouldn't we have moved on by now in terms of ergonomics and design sensibility? You don't see architects, car designers, consumer electronics designers, etc., still using the same designs from half a century ago.

Yeah I don't get it either. Why does a shortscale bass need a full-sized headstock? Reduce the size of that big honking headstock, get rid of the pickguard & the telecaster control thing, and this would be a great-looking bass.

Maybe most shortscale players like the Fender look? I don't know.

Not sure why there's a complaint about the price. Schecter makes fine imports and have been for two decades, and there aren't a lot of short scale offerings out there. The moment I saw this thing and the price, I wanted it. Hopefully retailers get them in the stores so people will buy them.

Their P4 offering is gonna be a tougher sell at $900...
