New Schecter short scale P Bass

Musicmaster is a shortscale singlecoil P. No?
I've seen others and will link once I remember who makes them. :)

While the Squier Vista Musicmaster bass is a shortscale that uses a pickup similar to the SCPB pickup but shorter, the neck and body are not like the SCPB.

I thought you meant a shortscale version of the SCPB which is what I would be interested in.

Well, I think the body is not far off and yes, the neck is a little small.
I'll post, when I remember.

I dig the bass and I do like throwback/retro designs. And you absolutely see this kind of thing in architecture and other types of design. The Mid-Century Modern trend is a perfect example. And there's been an explosion of motorcycle models that look like they came from the 50's-70's but are thoroughly modern motorcycles. Some brands are built entirely on this.

But back to this bass... I like the body, but that 2-tone headstock is weird. The bare wood stands out like a sore thumb and isn't carried over anywhere else in the design. If wanted to do that, they should have painted it in a complimenting color (like a lighter version of the body color) or made it a sparkly white to match the pickguard.

I personally think it is a good option as the potential increase in overall string tension with the extended length should help with the reduced scale length. Frankly not sure why isn't isn't an option on all modern short scale basses

Possibly because the manufacturers soon realized (like I did after owning and playing both string through and top loaded basses) that it doesn’t make any difference.

And string through can also create problems for a lot of flatwound string sets. Some flatwounds tend to break if not top loaded.

The extra length does not affect tension at all. Tension is purely a factor of tuning a particular gauge string to pitch.

This. A thousand times this.

Has any body bought one of these banshee yet. Would like to see a review on it by someone how bought one. I've been looking at them but cant find one in the 7.5lb range yet.
Thanks
Coming Wednesday.

La Bella makes a Deep Talkin' set (760F-MUS) for the MIA thru-body only Fender Mustang. Even though the Banshee bridge supports top-loaded strings in addition to thru-body, I plan to restring with the La Bella's for the Mustang. I want to see how they perform. I've got top-loaded DTFs on my Gibson and Ibanez and love them.
