Fender Jazz shown with optional new Fender '75RI warranty neck and Hipshot "A" bridge.

I may be wrong but the bass above is a 70's RI and not a 75RI bass. There is a difference in neck profile and the CAR bass has 'vintage 75 pups" while the other two (white & blue) basses don't, thus the 70's moniker. Also the CAR bass was made soley (sp) for the european market but some basses were sold here while the 70's fsr basses were targeted for the USA.

98 MIA Jazz Bass... I think I should replace the pickguard with a tortoise shell...
Here ya go, 2000 MIA jazz.

You're partly right. ;) ...actually the neck is in fact a custom warranty '75RI that I just received a few weeks ago from Fender (along with a free T-shirt, coffee mug and keychain...yay).

Regarding the pickups:I actually installed a set of CS '60s pickups to compare with the stock pickups, but the stockers sounded waaaay better.

How much difference in neck profile do you notice? As far as the pups go they are what makes the bass sound the way it does.

It's thicker..I've played the '75RIs in the stores and it's the same, it's much more stable, wood selection appears to be nicer, tone is a little deeper, fretwork is superior to the old one.

The pickups are a mystery to me. They don't appear to be anything special, but the tone I think is equal to that of the AV Jazzes I've tried, with a very clear response from top to bottom.
Even with both pickups dimed, the neck pu especially has a real meaty, almost dirty sounding tone...and it's totally addictive. Not TOO brown, just right. With a pick and the right EQ settings I can make it sound like Anthony Jackson on the early Chaka Khan solo stuff. :D

Yea, I think those drapes were in my room as a kid. My mom re-uses everything.
The panelling, we hate. We're waiting for permission to change it (rented house)
And we can't forget my 20's tiling on the floor. It's so....Kitchen.
