New Sire P Basses!

There are men who like these necks. Then women and kids are the next best fit for them. Nothing about calling anyone, anything. They are thinner and fit more of the population. That's why they make them this way. No other reason. Meanwhile, P bass players get shafted.

A J neck on a P was good enough for DD. Just sayin' . . .

I understand nut width to an extent, but I'll never pass on a bass because "too many knobs"... you have the option to not engage the preamp, or engage and leave flat. I don't get why too much functionality and options would ever be a serious no factor when options is exactly what they are.

Well, in my case, It bothers me in an OCD way to have things that are not necessary. Every extra unused part is one more thing that could break or need to be maintained in some way. This is why I don't do active electronics. There are passive options that sound just as good as any active circuit IMO. Simplicity is elegance.

Still, I'm glad to see Sire growing and expanding their lineup even if they don't have a bass for me yet.

Looks nice and I like the jazz neck pairing but the knob configuration is impractical. I wouldn't be able to deal with knobs all up in my grill.
Not all that hard to get the hang of once you've got one, and makes it a tonal monster. Just have to remember where you are in the settings (the center detentes are very helpful).

What a bunch of grumpy old cranks. They are knobs, not your computer; join the crazy new fangled world of preamps :rollno:
The point of a P isn't simplicity, its a sound. We haven't heard it yet, so we don't know if it makes that sound. If it doesn't, then there is a problem.
The point of a PJ is more options and to be more evolved than a P. That's what this looks like to me. Some PJs have jazz necks, some have P necks; there is no right or wrong here.

So, this sucks for P bass players. Apparently, this brand is centered around the entire bass playing world who play jazz basses and their necks. They must want the woman and child market so bad that they will keep the thinner neck at all costs.

Wow dude.
Just...wow o_O

its bad enough a lot of guys judge their manhood by the music they listen to and play but now, apparently, some judge their manhood by their musical instrument choices....
