New Sire P Basses!

Yes, that's where they originally all were made... then a big announcement about how they were expanding to a plant in China too, which was also going to be proprietary/owned also, and that we should not worry about quality control there... then some WERE made there....

But --- the reponse @GeorgeBassPlay got (and which I quoted) says the make ALL their instruments in Indonesia... meaning they have shuttered the Chinese plant they'd only recently (well, a year or two) starting producing some Sires in? There weren't that many Chinese Sires in the US, but I think many Thomann Sires are/were, at least in the past at some point.

I thought for a while they were selling the Chinese-made basses in other countries, didn't realize they had actually stopped production in China, is that true?

Well first thoughts are as follows.

  1. The P pickup is no joke. It brings the thump for sure.
  2. The bass has some neck dive, and that's with a 4" wide neoprene strap.
  3. Weight is around 9.4 lbs, so not too bad for a 5 string Ash
  4. The P pup sounds great solo'd in passive mode. I might use it that way when I want a true P bass.
I will know more when I finally gig her. Sop far I'm keeping it stock (strings and all)

Actually, 9.4 for an ash body P 5er isn't bad at all. Hoping mine is that light.

Yeah, some hipshots or gotohs might be called for in that case. I recall the '54 Fender I learned on had the same issue, FWIW. :)

I had to send back 4 left-handed metallic red V7s from Thomann :(
All suffered from bad paintjobs. Two had paint repairs, dents etcr
They just didn't seem to live up to the good reviews they had gotten.
I also noticed that there were a lot of left-handed Sire B-stocks on sale.
After messing around with Thomann from februari until may I finally gave up and got my money back.
In the end they said that all basses from that batch had the same problem.
I then rang Thomann to complain at the terrible custom service they had given me during all this time.
And the last guy I spoke to said that some later series of the Sire basses had apparently been made in China.
And that the quality of those were not on par with the Indonesian. He also said that they probably wouldn't take more of these basses in because of that.
I also knew another leftie that bought a white one, that didn't have any issues at all.
So maybe there were just some of the modelsD/batches that were made in China.
Anyway, This experience sucked. I really wanted a metallic red V7. And in this price range there is not much else for us lefties to get here in europé.
Now when they are coming out with a lefty "P Bass" and you guys are talking about Sire only producing in indonesia.
Im thinking of making a new run on these and hope it will work out well.
I love the fact that Sire think about us lefties. So lets hope for the best.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I have been paying attention to everything that passes me about Sire basses for 6 months or so and this is the first real large hiccup I have heard of, besides availability. Knew it had to happen sometime, so let's see how it all turns out. From all I have heard before, Sire seems to care about fixing problems and doing right by their customers, so let us all know how you get along in the long run. Thomanns selling B stock basses always made me a little wary and this is a flag to pay attention to. Maybe you could find a way to deal with Sire directly(they are Korean owned) instead of Thomanns, and let them know of your problems. They might really want to know about something like this and fix your predicament. Might be worth an email or two. Good luck.

Really sorry to learn that. The V7 in BMR looks so nice. However, from the poll in the other 'Sire Bass Club' here on TB, it seems it's by far the color that sells the least. I have bought a V7-5 alder FL in AW, but I was hesitating for a BMR one (not a lefty though).
Were the four BMR V7 you got swapped over those months all different?
Thomann is currently selling some of the V7 and VV7 at lower prices, especially LH and FL, and not all of these are tagged B-stock.

Frankly I think it had to do with Thomanns miserebly custom service at the moment, especially the quality department. They could have saven me months and time if they would have listend or cared.
Otherwise I really like what sire have done, and how They seem to connect with Their customers.
Do you have any suggestion who to contact.
I might give that a try.
Im really tired of Thomann..
