Well I just got word that the September 30th date has now been pushed out a week.
Here's what I got:
"Please be advised that because we are working with future orders, we can only give you our best estimate at the time of ordering. Currently about a week delay is expected due to the late arrival of the shipment. The recent hurricane caused about 5 day delay in arrival. "
Oh well as long as the bass is being put together flawlessly.
What material are the default ones made of? Also heard that if you ask for chrome knobs they provide them with the order.
On my P7, they were black plastic. They had markers and a grippy surface. Actually pretty good for plastic knobs, but most of us talkbassers (or maybe it is just me) have a hard time leaving well enough alone.

From what I've been seeing and hearing from the P7, it's well worth getting regardless of what small modifications I'd have to make.
MANY guitars and basses costing Thousands of dollars use plastic knobs. There is nothing inherently wrong with them being plastic - it is just what they look and feel like to YOU, the owner. To me, they do look a little cheap, but they work fine (I have saved the originals). I like shiny for this bass, SO...... By the way the metal ones I got are the exact same height as the plastic originals.
Well I figure I've waited long enough. Just ordered my fretless P7 5er Ash / Maple in Tobacco Sunburst. Review in 2-3 months.
Finally got my tracking for my P7 5. A week from now I should have her.

At the moment it seems quite likely that I'll be ordering a P7 sometime soonish, all that's left to decide is on the color.

It's here! Fit and finish is spot on. The white is a trans finish, which is a welcome bonus. Have to wait until I get home later to plug her in.

So, maybe I'd missed this somewhere along the line.... Sire no longer making any of their basses in China? Interesting. I wonder why they dropped that, it was not too long ago that they just started making some of them in China.
They've been making them in Indonesia for the past couple years AFAIK
