New SolidGoldFX Beta V Bass Preamp Pedal

I’d like to know more about what the LPF is doing since the ad copy notes that it can be set to boost or cut midrange. That’s not what an LPF does, so it’s likely a multi-function control that they’ve simply labeled LPF.

Looks like it is an actual LPF when the toggle is set to LPF. I'm surprised more preamps don't have a manually controlled LPF.

The LPF only affects the drive circuit (at least according to the vid), which is good. However, when active there are only mid-bump/mid-cut settings, so no "flat" LPF. I don't like that. The post eq is great since I've always felt that pre eq on drive pedals muddies things up too much. Slight bummer about the nature of the LPF but still sounds good.

Yeah, that had me scratching my head.

Perhaps multifunction, you get the adjustable LPF (?) with the cutoff frequency controllable with the pot by itself on the “0” setting?

I’m wondering whether the “1” and “2” provide the option to ADD a superimposed mid bump or scoop (like the switch on the Empress bass compressor) or if they change the function of the pot so it controls the amplitude of that bump or scoop?

Or as the description says, does the “0” setting bypass it completely and disable the LPF pot, so as noted above by @Hamrlik, you can only get the LPF with EITHER a mid bump or scoop?

A bit confusing, at least for me.

My guess is that the LPF frequency, perhaps combined with some resonance, gives the appearance of a "mid bump" or "mid scoop". If the LPF is set higher, more of the mids would come through vs if it was set lower... with the presence control to bring the highs back up, I could see the overall effect being a mid bump vs mid scoop.
 
Per the SolidGoldFX site description: The low-pass filter now has 2 settings for bumped or scooped-mids as well as a center bypass setting for a more transparent experience.

So I assume that means it's removed entirely from the signal when set to "zero", but still not 100% certain. I'll probably give one a go even with that minor nuisance.
