I agree with whomever said the larger issue is the name. The word squire (the traditional spelling) means "an apprentice who aspires one day to become a professional."
Go from there with why that might be a poorly chosen name for a product.
To me the new on is the old one on a diet, just thinner letters. I like the older fatter letters myself.Same, I literally can’t tell the difference.
Oh really. I did not know that.It was the founder’s last name, Victor Squier - Fender bought the VC Squier Company of Battle Creek Michigan.

Appears both definitions apply, it seems the "social rank" definition came somewhat later as an evolution of the "apprentice to a knight" definition. The name is derived from escuyer in French indicating the social rank immediately below a knight, not so much an apprentice.

Honestly. Half the comments are omg what a waste blablabla… more of a waste to tell people what they should be interested in instead of letting them enjoy a topic they’re interested in. I don’t see anything wrong with discussing branding and history of a manufacturer that a large percentage of us has used. If you don’t wanna talk about it, cool, get out and let other people continue the conversation.Cool, mine has the new one. You people will hate on anything.
