New Squier Logo

Logo is fine.

I agree with whomever said the larger issue is the name. The word squire (the traditional spelling) means "an apprentice who aspires one day to become a professional."

Go from there with why that might be a poorly chosen name for a product.

It was the founder’s last name, Victor Squier - Fender bought the VC Squier Company of Battle Creek Michigan.

The company stated out making strings and was named after the founder Victor Squier. Fender just bought them out.
The name is derived from escuyer in French indicating the social rank immediately below a knight, not so much an apprentice. I guess the name was just lying around in a drawer when they decided to start up the budget brand.

Appears both definitions apply, it seems the "social rank" definition came somewhat later as an evolution of the "apprentice to a knight" definition.

Squire - Wikipedia

Either way, it means "something less than the fully realized version" which might be academically very correct but doesn't make me want to buy one.

Cool, mine has the new one. You people will hate on anything.
Honestly. Half the comments are omg what a waste blablabla… more of a waste to tell people what they should be interested in instead of letting them enjoy a topic they’re interested in. I don’t see anything wrong with discussing branding and history of a manufacturer that a large percentage of us has used. If you don’t wanna talk about it, cool, get out and let other people continue the conversation.

That's the way for many on here. If it was Fodera or Sadowsky these 8 pages would be filled with praise for genius engineering. Instead it's another way to dump on Squier.
