I was browsing on Offset guitar forum and reading about the new Squier Bass VI being offered, and then I found this post by member vistavision, who has been the one to introduce recent fender introductions to the webs.
Appearantly it will cost about 300 bucks, my only complaint is that they went with a lined fretboard vs. an unlined fretboard like the originals. http://www.keymusic.com/en/product/Squier-Vintage-Modified-Precision-Bass-Fretless-3CS

What the hell? It's like Squier is forcing me to build credit card debt.

Totally. Thats a deal breaker for me too. I did recently get one of the Unlined ESP 214 P/J and I think I like it.

I DO play fivers, and I WANT IT

  10. i recently purchased one and love it!!!! I tried to build my own and I was never satisfied with the finish on the neck. When I saw this I had to have it. I am in the process of modding it. New pickups and perhaps a preamp. I have to say that I need the lines to keep me in the general vicinity of the note.

I hope this comes out in the U.S. I would love to find a fretless Precision but I don't want to spend $1200+ on one and I don't want a Rondo (if they still make them).

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say it's a "marketing thing". It's quite possible Fender is waiting for Summer NAMM to go down before they append them to their U.S. website. I'm also guessing they're assuming that "the intarh-webs" in Europe won't bleed through to North America fast enough so they can dazzle people heading to NAMM.

Silly marketers…don't they know that the net flies faster than their predictions (re: vain hopes)?! :spit:

Call me Mad :)D), but I would think letting people actually know what they'll be able to see "in the flesh" at a big event would stoke interest even higher. It might even serve those events better by making more people wanna go there!

I'm one of those guys who's never played a fretless, as a first fretless, I would need the lines, Then later, depending on how well I do, I would either get an unlined one, or give up fretless entirely, LOL.
