New Stingray Special or New Flea Bass?

I'm sorry, I have a hard time giving someone the last word when that is clearly the only reason they continue to contribute.
That's a pretty juvenile approach to take.
So what if he gets the last word? You really going to rent out that much mental real estate to someone go insulted you?
Anyway, I'm happy the OP snagged a bass that he's more than happy with, even if he did go against the poll!
No need to be concerned about my mental real estate. I'm just fine. The thread is essentially over, you can unsubscribe.
If someone quotes me in their reply, they should expect a response if I feel it's warranted.

Your lack of contrition is what makes me think that you feel your insults were somehow actually warranted and that the criticism and/or censorship of your posts have been unwarranted.
Surprised to see that this thread is still alive and kicking since the OP bought a bass . Glad he found what he likes . That's really all that matters.
Everyone is different. He asked. The poll speaks for itself . He made a decision based on what was best for him.
He preferred the Fender Flea. I prefer my Stingray5 Special . Can it do jazz bass and precision bass tones? I think so. That's one reason I bought it . Like someone else mentioned , if MusicMan had a Caprice 5, I'd own one. This Stingray5 Special have ne what I needed outnof a 5 string and then some .
I prefer my Caprice and my Stingray5 and my Sire V3-5 over Fenders. But I don't expect everyone else to.

Why I'll agree that ultimately the OPer will have to live with his decision, but he did, for whatever reason, asked for our opinion. That said if it were me, I would play them for as long as I could before the store gives me the bums rush before making a decision, which would probably be another American Fender JB.

This applies to Fender, EBMM and lots of other companies. In the case of Fender and EBMM, neither company is doing much in terms of innovation. Mostly it's refinements on traditional designs.
You need to take it out of turbo, sparky.
The 2018 special is a refinement of the classic stingray. It isn't revolutionary nor is it innovative. I'm not knocking it. I'm sure it is an excellent instrument and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, if I was in the market to buy a bass.
The Flea isn't innovative or revolutionary, either. It's a variant of a classic design.
I too have owned a bunch of Fenders- since then acquired a wonderful Mike Lull M5V (used) which is the bass Fender should have made. I also owned a EB Sterling which was nice but used and had a neck issue (got it used) so I sold it off....
Now...I have ordered this Stingray Special and can't wait to receive it (Music Man hopes by April 2019). They reduced the weight, added a fret, come now with roasted neck, 18 volt preamp, better body contour, and neodymium magnets in the pickups. Sexy changes for sure!

Playing a friend's Cutlass II and a SR on sale in the early '70s, holy Moly, i later fancied a SR 5 Classic ... before the L-Berger crossed my plans.
Nothing new under the sun department - Sadowsky, from 1988
Aside from general appearance, that Sadowsky is no more similar to the Flea than a 1988 Stingray is to the new Stingray Special. The fact that this Sadowsky exists matters very little.
By the way... T-Bone is the man!
