New Strings for a Bass Cover?

I'm thinking of making some bass covers and posting them online but don't have new strings for my bass and can't really afford them. I could save up, but only if it's worth it. So, that's the question, is it really worth it?

What kind of bass and what make/type of strings are currently on it? And how old are the strings?

Strings are 2 years old, Bass is a Sound Gear by Ibanez and the strings came with the bass.

How do they sound to you? Unless they're worn to the point of being unusable, I don't see why you couldn't do bass covers with them.

As far as I'm concerned, bass covers are all about your playing than the gear. Decent playing skills can overcome any shortcomings in gear.
