Anybody see the short SUB review in the newest Bass Player? They are now made in Indonesia and have a street price of $280. That sounds like OLP reborn to me.
I think there has been at least 4 threads on these. Although not being able to search TB for "sub" won't help the situation.
I read that the launch date has been moved back to September. Will GC be stocking the new SBMM SUB series??
hi dr. cheese..the olp's are actually chinese. i have one and despite the inferior neck, it's well-finished and has an awesome tone. i've been beating on mine for 6 years now with no problems at all.
don't rub it in. SUBs are one of those basses that I really love. I've played a few and really dug the feel, etc. but they're never worth what they're asking for them in my mind. $600 or $700 is too close to a used 'Ray in my mind, price wise.
LOLZ. so all the ray34's that sound like actual stingrays are like passive OLP look alikes to you?? HAHAHAH!!
Dang, what's Sterling going to release next...the SUB Tribute? A $149 Stringray made in the Guatemalan jungle?
1. There were active OLP's made. 2. I think he was referring to the "made in Indonesia" part of the post.
I'm hoping for the rebirth of the OLP MM5 bass VI model and possibly a matching Sterling to go with it. Black on maple baby.
Troll. And yes, they are all made in Indo. They are all cheaper than the US models. Yeah from a business aspect this is a rebirth of OLP. Read a little before you break out the Z on the end of LOL. Or just don't sound like a tool.
I'd guess basswood. I have no problem with that though, plenty of amazing instruments are made with Basswood. I would seriously think of one of these as a backup, or a bass to use in venues I wouldn't want to bring my more expensive axes.
