Double Bass New to LIst

Hi Everyone
I am a upright bassist since my college days, switch from Tuba.

My teacher started me on French bow but he let me switch to german bow and my love of the instrument to off from there.

I mostly study with bass teachers that primarily play french bow. Which I have learned alot from them.

But I was wondering is there any bowing books out there that deal with technique for the German Bow.

I am going to reveiw the simandle to improve and strengthen my bass playing. BUt I have worked out of the Nanny books also. if you can help it woul be appreciated.

my experience is that books won't do, only a good teacher, and they are not easy to find. Some good players can't explain how they do things.

Which book or what exercise you do is not quite as relevant. I know people that have amazing bow technique and they came up this their own exercises with the help of a teacher.

One book that I think could be adapted to any technique would be Hal Robinson's "Strokin".

I second HR's Strokin'. To supplement that I would also recommend looking into the teachings of Ivan Galamian. One of my teachers recommended his books and I've found them to be incredibly useful from both a practical and pedagogical sense.

The two books I picked up are "Principles of Violin Playing and Teaching" and "Contemporary Violin Technique, Volume 1: Scale and Arpeggio Exercises".
