Double Bass New Toob/Quilter mini rig

Just picked up this Toob Metro 6.5 BG speaker and Quilter Interbass micro head. Even lighter than my PJ Double Four and just as loud. It fits perfectly in the Double Four shoulder bag. 5lbs total!

The speaker comes with legs that allow it to face up like an Upshot.

Sounds nice so far at home but I have four gigs this weekend where I will be able to tell if it’s a keeper.

I am interested to hear the gig reports! Looks like a really interesting concept. Hopefully the sound in a live environment will be good. I know that a single 6.5" speaker doesn't push a lot of air, but maybe the voicing of the speaker will provide a good foundation for bass. Please come back with an update, when available!

The 6.5 in my Traynor SB106 pushes plenty of air so I am hopeful

Looks good. Just wondering what you expect to gain over the PJB Double Four? Asking because I own a Double Four. Sound quality, volume, portability, versatility?
I just like to experiment!

For me though the Double Four is actually too bassy. Something about the bass radiator in the back I don’t like.

This speaker also gives me the opportunity to try some different micro heads.

You say the Metro 6.5BG was enough with two drummers ?
this is a small scale for a HP, I was more thinking of a 8 or 10 to play with drummers.
I have a PJ Bass cub 100 with two 5", a Markbass 801 with a 8 and also a Crazy with a 8.
For me the PJ has not enough bass. So personally for me under a 8 there is nothing, so I'm surprise the metro 6.5BG works with drummers.
I ask in case I would be interested to buy one and would hesitate between the 6.5BG or bigger.
Thank's for your answer

Two different drummers in one day, not two at the same time.

So far it is working for me, BUT I hesitate to recommend anything to anyone. My bass is set up to be played acoustically and the times when I do use an amp it is just reinforcing my acoustic sound, so I do not need/use a lot of volume. The Schertler Stat B pickup I am using has a lot of gain and so the 33 watts provided by the Quilter Interbass is quite enough. I play mostly in acoustic jazz settings. The Traynor SB106 with a 6.5 and the Phil Jones with four inch speakers also work well for me with drummers. Your needs may be very different.

@Earl How's it working out for you after a couple more months?
I really like it! The smallest, lightest amp ever. It fits in my PJ Double Four shoulder bag. Sounds especially great with the Stat B. I have used it with jazz drummers with no problem, but I don't play loud to start with. I am an acoustic player and when I need to I use the amp to enhance that. This amp will not work that well if you mostly rely on the amp for volume.
